Offer your students an exciting educational tour to Italy where they will discover the country's art, design, fashion, architecture and, of course, food! The tour will focus on four key destinations - Rome, Sicily, Venice and Milan, all of which are incredibly unique and rich in culture and history.
Students will take part in cooking classes, enjoy guided tours with local experts, visit museums and art galleries, and marvel at the natural beauty of Italy, visible at every turn. With an expert Haka Educational Tour Guide, we will ensure the experience is educational, fun and safe and it will, no doubt, be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the students of Western Springs College.
Trip Itinerary
DAY ONE
International flight from Auckland to Rome, Italy (with at least one connecting stop).
DAY TWO
Meet your Haka Educational Tour Guide on arrival in Rome and transfer to your accommodation, followed by an orientation of city.
DAY THREE
Enjoy a guided tour of Rome, taking in the main highlights such as the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, Piazza Venezia, Fontana di Trevi, Piazza di Spagna, Piazza del Popolo and Piazza Navona.
DAY FOUR
Visit to the Vatican and explore its incredible museums, see the Sistine Chapel, as well as St Peter’s Basilica and Square. Transfer to Naples and take part in a traditional pizza cooking course followed by an authentic dinner.
DAY FIVE
You will have an educational visit to the Citta della Scienza (City of Sciences) Museum and a guided tour of Naples, focusing on history, architecture and art. Transfer to the harbour for an overnight on boat trip to Palermo in Sicily.
DAY SIX
On arrival in Palermo, enjoy a guided tour and learn about the history of the Sicilian capital.
Transfer to Catania with a stop en route at Piazza Armerina, to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Villa Romana del Casale.
DAY SEVEN
This morning you will visit Mount Etna, an active stratovolcano. You will travel by cable car and jeep to get to the top, followed by a short hike. Enjoy free time in the hilltop town of Taormina in the afternoon.
DAY EIGHT
Visit to Syracuse this morning, known for its incredible ancient ruins. Later today you will explore Noto and discover the amazing Baroque architecture found here.
DAY NINE
Transfer to the airport in Catania and board a flight to Venice. On arrival, a boat transfer will take you to your accommodation. This afternoon, enjoy a guided tour of Venice, taking in key highlights such as Piazza San Marco, Palazzo Ducale and more.
DAY TEN
Enjoy a boat tour the Islands in the Venice lagoon, taking in Murano, Burano and Torcello.
Visit a local glass producer and learn about their skills. This evening is free at your leisure so why not explore Venice canals by gondola.
DAY ELEVEN
This morning is dedicated to a visit to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and the Fenice Theatre. This afternoon you will have free time to explore Venice further at your own pace.
DAY TWELVE
Transfer to the train station by boat and take the fast train to Milan. Continue to your accommodation, followed by an orientation tour of the centre of Milan, exploring the streets filled with fashion.
DAY THIRTEEN
Today you will have a guided tour of Milan, focusing on the art, architecture and design. See the most famous buildings and designs as your guide tells you all about the history of the city. Enjoy visits to the Pinacoteca Brera painting gallery and Fondazione Prada.
Day 14
Transfer to the airport and board international flight from Milan to Auckland (with at least one connecting stop).
Day 15
Arrive in Auckland - we hope you had an amazing trip!
