Tour Overview

New Zealand

Sailing

Haka Educational Tours and New Zealand Sailing Trust have teamed up to invite your students on an exclusively designed STEAM adventure and skills-based educational programme on board a vessel once sailed by Sir Peter Blake!

Using the maxi yacht (Lion NZ or Steinlager 2) as a classroom, students will learn about the fundamentals of sailing, NZ maritime history, conservation and the environment. They will also develop key skills such as planning, problem solving, goal setting, resilience, as well as leadership and teamwork.

Students will learn how to use maps and charts, and will have the opportunity to form a deeper connection with their peers as well as Aotearoa. All of this on board a legendary yacht that once raced around the world in the Whitbread Round the World Yacht race!
