Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths (STEM) is everywhere and shapes our everyday experiences, meaning STEM education is vital and we need to encourage students to understand and embrace these core subject areas. Combining learning and fun is the perfect recipe for a hugely successful tour. Students will engage with all aspects of STEM in a 6-Day intensive Space Camp at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center. Combined with time at the California Science Centre, and some of San Francisco and LA’s top visitor attractions, students will benefit enormously from the fun, engaging and varied environment throughout this tour.

This is a once in a lifetime experience for the students of Mandurah Catholic College. They will be exposed to a whole new realm of learning which could in turn develop into an exciting and prosperous STEM based career, as well as creating those life long memories!

Trip Itinerary

DAY ONE

Fly from Perth to San Francisco (exact flight schedule TBC), transfer to your hotel for the evening and catch up on some rest before embarking on a full dau of sightseeing tomorrow!

DAY TWO

Enjoy your first full day in the USA exploring the best of San Francisco. Today will include a visit to the ultra tech world of Silicon Valley, a University Tour and allow plenty of time for sight-seeing.

DAY THREE

Fly to Huntsville and transfer to the US Space & Rocket Center. For the next 6 days students will stand up to the test of simulated space missions, rocket launches and realistic astronaut simulators in an intense Space Camp Academy.

DAY FOUR

Space Academy® is the ultimate unique camp experience where students work as a team and confront mission scenarios that require dynamic problem solving and critical thinking skills.

DAY FIVE

Students will learn about the past, present and future of space exploration amid space artifacts, to show students real world applications of STEM.

DAY SIX

Experience a variety of astronaut training exercises, engineering challenges and team-building activities, all culminating in an extended-duration simulated space mission.

DAY SEVEN

Train on astronaut simulators including Multi-Axis Trainer, the five degrees of freedom chair and the 1/6 gravity chair.

DAY EIGHT

Celebrate your achievements during the graduation ceremony in your official Space Camp flight suit! This afternoon hop on a flight to the Golden state - California.

DAY NINE

No visit to LA is complete without a visit to Universal Studios! Your visit will also include an Educational Program - can you imagine a more enjoyable classroom than one of the USA’s best theme parks?!

DAY TEN

This morning you are off to explore Hollywood - prepare yourself for a truly enlightening visit to the California Science Centre, and visits to other local sights before heading to the airport this evening to board your flight back home.

DAY ELEVEN

Travel time - Cross International Dateline.

DAY TWELVE

Arrive back in Perth today as your USA tour comes to an end, but rest assured the adventures, memories and friendships will last a lifetime!
