The 2024 New Zealand Leadership Academy will allow students to explore leadership through three focus areas:

  • Exploration of Māori culture which is rich in philosophies of empowerment, respect, and tradition
  • A leadership & resilience challenge through a multi-day hike on one of the famous Great Walk trails 
  • Understanding leadership philosophies of one of the most successful athletic teams in the world, and a pioneer in leadership strategies that are used by teams and businesses throughout the world, the All Blacks.

DAYS 1-3: USA > NZ

Depart Boston and fly into Auckland + 2 days later due to crossing time zones.

On arrival meet your Haka tour guide on arrival, transfer and check in to your accommodation. Enjoy an orientation tour of the city of sails led by your guide. Experience incredible 360 panoramic views whilst watching the sun set over the city from the top the Sky Tower. 

DAY 4: AUCKLAND

This morning we travel by boat across to Rangitoto Island, Auckland. Hike through lava fields and native forest to the summit for epic views.

Later on, head to the All Blacks Experience. You will learn what it takes to make, shape, and be an All Black and discover the passion and history behind the Haka.

DAY 5: AUCKLAND

Experience the mana and power of Māori performing arts with a cultural performance on the hallowed turf of Eden Park. Learn the Haka in the All Blacks changing rooms and then perform it on the field, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

We’ll also meet with ex-All Black & ex-Black Fern Players today to learn the secret behind the most successful teams in the world!

DAY 6: AUCKLAND > ROTORUA

Travel onwards to Rotorua and arrive at the living Māori Village, Whakarewarewa. This will be an incredibly immersive cultural experience where you will spend the night in a Marae and gain a deep and meaningful insight into Māori traditions, customs and ways of life.

Included in the experience is a private guided tour, performing arts experience, cultural education and traditional creative arts.

DAY 7: ROTORUA

After departing the Marae we head to ZORB to experience this amazingly fun and bizarre activity invented in NZ!

We’ll spend the afternoon at Rotorua Canopy Tours, voted the best nature and adventure experience in the world.  Journey through prehistoric native forest and be a part of the forest restoration story through a hands on conservation service workshop.

DAY 8: ROTORUA > AUCKLAND > NELSON

Today is a travel day, we head back to Auckland by bus and take a short domestic flight to Nelson.

On arrival into Nelson, there will be an orientation and time for preparation ahead of your multi day hike starting tomorrow.

DAY 9-11: ABEL TASMAN NATIONAL PARK

Across three nights and four days, explore golden beaches, lush coastal native bush and cheeky wildlife of the glittering Abel Tasman National Park. This journey will challenge your resilience and leadership skills across  two days of kayaking and two days of hiking.

We’ll be completely self-sufficient, off grid and immersed in the natural world on this epic journey. 

DAY 12: ABEL T > KAIKŌURA

After a short hike and water taxi back to Marahau where you start the journey, we’ll then travel onwards to Kaikōura.

Known for its abundance of wildlife and stunning landscapes this coastal town is full of delights.

DAY 13: KAIKŌURA

This morning we embark on a magical boat journey to see the most interactive and acrobatic species of dolphins in the world, the Dusky Dolphins!

This afternoon we embark on thrilling Rafting adventure on nature’s own highway, the Clarence River.

DAY 14: KAIKŌURA > CHRISTCHURCH

Today we travel onwards to Christchurch along the stunning coastal highway. There will be ample stops en route to include seal colonies and epic photo stop opportunities.

On arrival into Christchurch we will explore the city on a heritage tram and you will paddle a handcrafted Waka down the River Avon.

DAY 15: CHRISTCHURCH > USA

We’ll enjoy a final farewell breakfast before transferring to the airport to start your journey home.
